Hey Journal, I Tried Something

Carla Norberta opens a series of work that depicts the artist’s perspective of what life is like living with mental illness. Informed by her mental health journey, the intent of this collection of work is to make each viewer feel less alone, and to create a space where one can feel safe in being vulnerable.
The show navigates you on an immersive experience and view of Carla’s portrayal of life with neurodivergence. Her series of paintings each play how mental illness is not always obvious, how the darkest of days look or feel, and the little ways to help get through the waves. This exhibition is also an ode to therapy and journaling, which were a huge help during the artist’s lowest points in life.
